Food Poisoning illness abroad

A family needed help with a food poisoning claim and got in touch with a solicitor at Smith Jones after their young son fell ill on a family holiday to Greece.  The family had booked their holiday through one of the leading tour operators on a half board basis. After eating at the hotel the young boy became seriously ill with diarrhoea and a fever, his condition deteriorated rapidly and he was admitted to the general hospital in Halkidiki and put on IV fluids until he was well enough to fly home.

Upon his arrival home in the UK he was admitted to hospital for investigations and it was confirmed that he had suffered from Salmonella food poisoning. The boy’s claim for compensation was settled for £3,000 and his parents claim for special damages was settled in the sum of £1,875.
